Such a helpful aolangy. 'Imagine a swimming pool full of miniature tennis balls. Maybe stop taking your medication first to help with this.' Everything tall is described as being 'as tall as two Statues of Liberty stacked on top of each other.' Sure. All of us who live in Wisconsin have a really detailed mental image of the height of the Statue of Liberty, and piles thereof. Seriously, I know it's a famous landmark but even if you live in New York it's not as if you walk past the base of the thing every week. Also disturbing is the total inability of any publication to get electrical units right. Megawatts, megawatt-hours, mega-day-hours-watts-whatever, it appears to just be decoration. Sometimes you can guess what they mean, sometimes no hope, and anyway why would I think the number is right if the unit doesn't even make sense? Not just newspapers but even full-length books, anything short of a full-on technical publication or peer-reviewed journal article is just certain to have the units totally mangled. Every electrical item you own has a sticker on the back saying 'X watts' and every month you get a bill saying you used 'Y kilowatt-hours' (and thus owe Z dollars), just how hard can this be? Do they want to get a bill from the utility expressing their consumption in terms of Statues Of Liberty Filled With Miniature Tennis Balls?
