Sometimes you can guess what they mean, sometimes no hope, and anyway why would I think the number is right if the unit doesn't even make sense? Not just newspapers but even full-length books, anything short of a full-on technical publication or peer-reviewed journal article is just certain to have the units totally mangled. Every electrical item you own has a sticker on the back saying 'X watts' and every month you get a bill saying you used 'Y kilowatt-hours' (and thus owe Z dollars), just how hard can this be? Do they want to get a bill from the utility expressing their consumption in terms of Statues Of Liberty Filled With Miniature Tennis Balls?
